Cat 1, 2 & 3 – pre-registration $35 and $45 Day Of
Pro & Cat 1 : Trails – East Ridge, Tahoe Trail, Sticks & Stones
The race course begins at the summit of Mount Pluto and descends 1760 ft to the mid mountain lodge. Right out of the gate is the East Ridge, a full speed technical fire road that leads to the Tahoe trail, a smooth single track that swoops it’s way down past the top Vista chairlift. Now your are on to Sticks and Stones which is a challenging mix of jumps, rock drops, rock gardens and log rides. The race finishes at the bottom of the Vista chair at the stadium jump where the crowd will be waiting!
Cat. 2 / Cat. 3: Trails – East Ridge, Tahoe Trail, Sticks & Stones, Speed Control, Frolick, Sticks & Stones
The course begins at the summit of Mt Pluto with an open fire road that leads to a smooth flowing section of trail with swooping banked turns. At the top of the Vista Express chair riders will enter the Sticks & Stones trail, which consists of some tight turns in the trees and some manageable rock rolls and drops with plenty of space to ride around. About half way down Cat.2 and Cat.3 riders will be directed over to the Speed Control trail. By going over to Speed Control these classes avoid the technical rock garden section of Sticks & Stones. Speed Control has some nice rollers and wide open turns through the ski run that will take you back onto a fire road. You’ll be on that fire road for about a hundred meters or so when you’ll hit the bottom of Sticks and Stones. Sticks and Stones will take you into the finish line where you’ll hit a series of big-bermed corners leading to the Stadium Jump which is the finish line tabletop.
Please note: This course is designed with the full understanding that Beginners and Sports will be both riding and racing on it.

The Shimano Kid’s Race is a fun and exciting mountain bike race for kids 2 years of age up to 12 years. The course is a very short loop on dirt with a very slight incline and always in sight of the parents. Depending on their age they’ll do 1, 2, or 3 laps. We may put a couple small obstacles on the course that the kids can go over to save time, but if we do there will definitely be an option to not have to go over those obstacles. The kids can practice the course from 12:00am- 1:30pm as long as they have an adult 18 years and over with them at all times. Depending on this years course there may be people walking or riding on the kid’s course so please be careful and pay attention at all times. The race is not meant to be too competitive although there are some that might take it a little more serious than others. This is a great time to bring the whole family up to Northstar-at-Tahoe and enjoy what the mountain has to offer!

Pearl Izumi Industry Cup Info & Rules
The Pearl Izumi Industry Cup is new for this years TLC and we’re stoked to have it in the line-up! This race is for all the riders that got into the cycling business because they thought that meant that you’d still actually have enough time to ride / Thursday night World Championship……. this is your chance to prove that you’re all that and a bag of chips. This is your chance to walk away with the cup, and your chance to sign autographs!
Now, there are a few rules in place so that we can keep things fair so keep reading and we’ll see you at the starting line!
I’m sure by now you have all heard of Kirt Voreis’ Specialized AllRide tour, but if not, let me give you the low-down. Kirt Voreis is one of the best mountain bike riders of his time! He has been on the podium at downhill World Cups, he has won Dual Slalom National Championships, and he has been a mentor for tons of kids who want to make a name for themselves in the mountain bike world, or who simply need a little direction in life.
Lindsey Voreis is the other half of the AllRide puzzle. Lindsey currently handles most of the business behind The Specialized Allride Tour and is extremely enthusiastic about promoting the mountain bike lifestyle and getting more women riding mountain bikes. When not on the road racing her bike with the AllRide crew, Lindsey guides mountain bike adventures for Cog Wild Mountain Bike Tours and teaches women’s clinics.
So what is the fun ride? Well, it’s just that…a super FUN XC ride! Kirt, Lindsay, and Specialized will have some of their demo bikes on hand for you to try out and Lindsey will be there to give you some tips and answer any questions you might have about either the bike or the trail. It’s not necessarily a clinic, but more to ride with Lindsey and give one of the demo bikes a try. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other men and women in the area who love to do the same thing as you…riding bikes!
We will have two fun XC rides on Saturday, September 24th, a Beginner / Intermediate trail and the second ride will be an Intermediate / Advanced trail. You will have to make the call as to what group you should be in, but please always err on the side of caution. Lindsey will take you on the trails that reflect the level or rider you are. Each group will have a limit of 10 riders total in the group.
The first ride will be the Beginner / Intermediate group at 11:00 am and will go for between 45 min.to 1 hour. The second ride will be the Intermediate / Advanced group at 2:00 pm and go for 1-1.5 hours. You will need to meet at the Specialized AllRide van, which will be at mid-mountain. If you do not have a lift pass you can purchase one at the Seasons Pass Office or you can always ride up. Lindsey will get you set up on one of the demo bikes or you can ride your own.
So come up and bring your girlfriends, your husbands, or even bring your whole family, but just come up and enjoy the absolute beautiful scenery, trails, and maybe even hang out for our event!
NOTE : Kids are welcome but there will be a minimum age required of 15 years old.
There will unfortunately be no DH or XC Clinics this year, but be sure to check back next year and we’ll work hard to get them back in the schedule!!
We are proud to announce that the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is back for another year as the TLC BBQ sponsor! Sierra Nevada has numerous award winning beers such as their Pale Ale, Torpedo, Tumbler, and Kellerweis, which you’ll be able to buy for $3.00! Yep…$3.00!!
Northstar will be taking over the BBQ at Mid-Mountain this year so the TLC will not be selling BBQ tickets like last year. The BBQ will already be cookin’ by 4:30pm and go until 6:00pm so take your helmet off and stay awhile or do your last run around 4:00pm, clean-up, and come join us up at Mid-Mountain! Oh and don’t forget about the $3.00 beers, which is….well let’s just face it they’re practically FREE!
On Saturday, Septembet 24th right after the Sierra Nevada BBQ the Tara Llanes Classic will once again premiere another highly anticipated film as we have for the past 2 years at the Pinkbike Film Premiere. In 2009 we premiered NWD10 and in 2010 we premiered the highly anticipated LifeCycles. The TLC is the ONLY event to have shown either one of those films to the general public before anyone else!
The film will be announced on Pinkbike first so keep an eye out!
All TLC registered racers will get in to the film premiere for $5, but if you are not registered to race the cost will be $10 at the door. The film will once again be shown up at Mid-Mountain at the Lodge at Big Springs.
NOTE: So be there and don’t miss out on a great night! The lift will be open to take you both up and back down after the film premiere. The lift will close at 7:30pm.
